Hello readers! I took an impromptu break right before Christmas and wasn't able to finish writing this post before the Great Conjunction, but I wanted to go back and finish, because the effects of this transit will last years anyway. I tend to shy away from the overly dramatic astrological style of making everything sound like a once in a lifetime event, but this really is a once in a lifetime event. To be clear, Saturn and Jupiter are Conjunct about every 20 years, but they have not been conjunct and thus close to Earth since 1623, around the time the first slaves were brought to America. At the time, the Great conjunction was in the opposite sign of Leo, and it set the pace for an American lifestyle based on hierarchy, patriarchy, self-obsession, competition, "normalcy" as a form of oppressive mental slavery (vs. Aquarian eccentricity), and the subjugation of more feminine people who were less focused on individualism and the concept of rulership. We took on the more toxic qualities of Leo because humanity has been disconnected from Spirit since Christ consciousness left Earth 2000 years ago, and was replaced with religious dogma used to brainwash and manipulate the masses, but that's another article. I just want to point out that every sign has it's toxic qualities and this isn't a full summation of Leo.
This Great Conjunction is also a Great Mutation, which means that, at 0 degrees Aquarius, we are starting a new period of air sign Great Conjunctions, something that will last for 8 more cycles, for about 200 years, meaning that for the next 200 years, every time there is a Great Conjunction it will be in an air sign. This is good news for social change, as air signs represent equality, communication, peace, justice, tolerance and freedom of thought. Since we are still not a fully enlightened people, some of the potentially problematic qualities we may see come from this transit include: being mentally over-stimulated, addiction to media, losing your own center, feeling disconnected from your heart/overly logical, A.I. taking up a larger space in our world and the responsibility that carries with it, depending on A.I. too much in ways that it should not be depended on, relying on science too heavily or science effacing spirituality, cult-like community taking advantage of the vulnerable, free media distorting people's version of reality, a lack of stability or structure in our systems. I think it's important to point this out because people need to understand, no transit is coming to save us, no president is coming to save us, no outside influence can save us from the inner work we need to do to heal the trauma that perpetuates pain in the outside world. Transits come along and make that change a bit easier, make it seem more possible, and may connect us with the guides who want us to thrive and evolve to understand what we need to to move forward.
Furthermore, any time a planet or aspect occurs at zero degrees it is incredibly potent and represents the most essential energy of that sign. So what does the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn represent? It is an alignment of our natural expressions of expansion and contraction, meeting at the same place, at the beginning of Aquarius. Much has been stated about “The Age of Aquarius” and if you think of this in terms of linear time, which astrology seems to be about, what you see are ripples, affecting the consciousness of past and future timelines. The thoughts and circumstances of this time period may not immediately create form. You may not see change immediately. If this is the beginning, we are in the stage of imagination, of endless possibility, we are still in the womb, of our dreams of genuine equality, of a world of freedom, respect for all, and a surrender of our search for individual superiority. Time moves as a spiral, like DNA, there are surges forward, and periods of retraction. When people dispute the concept of linear time, they are correct to question this but with astrology you see these spirals constantly, every time a planet goes retrograde it is demonstrating a “backwards” step in time, and you can see that quite literally, time, if measured by experience, is not linear.
The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is the focus of that moment where you are neither, you are both, you are done with compulsive action, and shame-based doubt. You are pausing for peace, reflection and the potential for a genuine new start. What this means for us is as individuals is that we will begin to see the ways in which we view ourselves as equal to all other beings, and the ways in which we don’t. For people who struggle with a sense of self-worth, it will be easier now to break compulsive habits that reinforce narratives that you don’t deserve everything you want and need. In people who are trapped in disconnection and feel a need to hold on to superiority, elitism, and wealth, the veil will begin to lift as to what you miss out on when you prioritize superiority over authentic connection. As society has become more “woke” and we are aware of how oppressive normalcy is to literally everyone, the safety and security of being attached to external sources of authority will become secondary to our desires for actual freedom for all. We are all special, but none of us are superior. We are also more aware of the inequalities in our own relationships and communities, because of our own or others’ privileges, and a new balance will be created with this awareness. Now more than ever before, we are witnessing an uprising of power to the people. We must seek out our comrades and work together instead of becoming overly dependent on government, even if we have new hope for the government. There is no external authority that will provide for you the permission for absolute freedom. You must give permission to yourself. We are all sovereign creators and we are all responsible for each other. We are going to find smaller groups to invest our efforts and hopes into. In our own communities we will be held, we will be seen, we will heal from the sociopathy of corporate capitalism. We will start where we are, with a critical eye toward the ways that we do not see ourselves or others as equal. We will work on that first.
