Full moon in Virgo with a side opposition of Nessus and Orcus

Today’s new moon is in Virgo. Uranus is trine the moon and sextile the sun. In addition to the sun and moon opposition that sets a mood of climax, release and reassessment, there is another opposition that is conjunct the full moon. Orcus is conjunct the moon and opposed Nessus, which is conjunct the sun. The individual meanings of these planets tie together with the signs that they are in, somewhat. Orcus, sometimes called the anti-Pluto, operates very similarly to Pluto. His mission is tied to clearing away our illusions, addictions and emotional crutches in order to reorient ourselves with our karmic oaths. The ever-improving Virgo has a constant awareness of dysfunction that would guide one to rid themselves of emotional crutches of any kind in order to obtain a sense of clarity or cleanliness. Nessus, a centaur asteroid, is associated with uncontrollable lust, revenge, jealousy, and abuse. The centaurs are charged with being protectors of bulls, or perhaps the inner bull (Taurus) of hedonism, materialism, gluttony or sensual pleasure as a substitute for soul/emotional connection. The centaurs all seem to be associated with poison and purification as well. Whereas other famous centaurs such as Pholus and Chiron have a more heroic reputation for self-mastery, wisdom and kindness, Nessus fails to control this inner poison. In this, we can see a potential connection to Pisces in terms of poison, toxic chemicals, or alcohol. In today’s full moon we can find a boost in the electric current of our heart that can jumpstart our emotional responses to see more clearly what our illusions/addictions/crutches are. While Uranus transits through Taurus, we are on a path of clarifying and reigniting our relationship to our stuff, our Earth, our matter, our perspective on finances and our financial systems, and our own sense of self-worth and what we want to be valued for. We may be learning that less is more (more freedom, more space, more time). We may be learning that we must control our instincts to shop irresponsibly in order to reduce our impact on Earth. We may be reevaluating our relationship to earning income. What are we willing to sell of ourselves or our talents? Today’s full moon brings light to these issues and gives us a chance to reform them with new and positive interpretations. While Orcus in Virgo helps us analyze and zero in on what is preventing us from fulfilling our karmic missions, Nessus incorporates our humanity, and reminds us of our vulnerability to our own demons. Nessus conjunct the sun may also be bringing up triggering circumstances around abuse, feelings of jealousy, or an instinct to let resentment or a sense of possession to get the best of us. If there is a cycle of abuse in your past or present, today may be a time to remember the effects and remind yourself that we can always create a different future, with different relationships. Grief can be empathy for a past self, but history is not destiny. Nessus, Orcus, Virgo and Pisces all tie in the themes of purification. There is also potential ties to abuse, addiction, compulsion, humanity’s purpose of perfecting itself to spiritual or physical mastery. As you move through today’s themes, leave the door open for magical insight for Uranian angels or guides to add clarity in how to move forward.
